Fresh new snow. New Allied Units: Priest and Attack Mage. Improved skill book information layout. Enjoy the latest weekly update to Bowmaster Winter Storm!

Updates

New Unit: Priest – Heals injured allies.
New Unit: Attack Mage – Attacks enemies with magical attacks.
Random chance of there being snow on trees.

Fixes

Improved the Skill/Upgrade Book information text popup so that it doesn’t cover up the Skill Icon that the mouse cursor is over.

Next Week

New Allied Unit: White Dragon. He has an untainted soul and will ally himself with your cause. He is on a mission to free his brethren from the evil spell that has caused all other dragons to fight as slaves for the side of evil. This and more next week. Stay tuned!

    Sweet update, cool we’re finally going to have a dragon as an ally, will it be able to purify enemy dragons? That would be awesome, you should make his attack negate any other dragon’s attacks, just an idea

    I noticed it lets me have only 1 wolf, trebuchet and catapult at a time, but the evil army gets about 6 at a time.
    Please make it so I can have more than 1 wolf, trebuchet and catapult.

  6. Hi Jason,

    I think you should make the grunts do different moves with their swords as well
    and make it so I can have more than 1 trebuchet, catapult and wolf on the battlefield at the same time, it only allows me to have 1 at a time.
    Also make some pikemen with helmets like the evil army’s ones.
    Another thing as well is that allied catapults and trebuchets fireballs burn the allies when fired near them.
    Also you could make giant stone balls as trebuchet projectiles.
    Also could you make it so that it makes the allies come onto the battlefield quicker and so I can have more allies on the battlefield together. I would love it if I could play as the evil army as well, with an evil army hero.
    I think the evil army should have a hero as well.
    I think it would be good if you made it a bit more like Bowmaster Prelude.

      First off, The Special Units (Trebuchet, Catapult, Wolf, Priest, And Battle Mage) are more powerful than Grunt style units, or in the wolfs case, faster. This is why you can only have one. We don’t want the game too easy.
      Pikemen with helmets, agreed, it would be nice, but still not needed, because they don’t have Archers all the time, where you always have at least one(you). So they aren’t needed too much.
      The fireballs do burn the allies…….I don’t understand this one.
      Giant stone balls as Trebuchet Ammo? Ok, I can see that, but probably end up being just a random size/shape thing, and not change the damage too much. That’s more of an aesthetic thing, In my opinion.
      I agree with Allies coming out quicker, and maybe it could be made so that the Special Units are more important in being created. I have to turn off my Grunts/Archers to get the Specials out. Playing as the Evil Army would be neat, but right now, the Good army doesn’t match up, so that might be a later addition. And Evil Hero would be cool, but the Evil army is strong enough that it would only be if the Evil Army olaying was created.
      Just answered this one.
      In what way? This is a LOT like Prelude, but with more stuff. At least, from what I see.

  7. Hi Jason,

    I think you should make a game play mode where you have to use your allys to battle (with no hero) like the evil army.
    Like where you click on the troop symbols/images to call them out.

    I noticed that when I have the allys on manual select, I select them to come out, call them out, but they take a long time to come out.
    I think it possibly maybe a bug/error.
    Please make some more types of allys to buy as upgrades, the evil army has loads of allys on their side.

    Also, why do the evil army’s troops when they die, they make weird, strange death noises like: onkidido, whatsmoreisshamprata, merrysanata, crazypapoisssse, wozall! rela (and they whisper some of them) etc. (Thats what it sounds like to me),
    I don’t know if they are saying that or not.
    But the hero’s allys just make normal death sounds like human ones.

    Also I would love it you made a game mode that would let me play as the evil army.
    I would love to play as them (with an evil army hero).

    Please put this on this Firday’s update or another Friday’s update maybe.

    I absolutely can’t wait for Bowmaster 2.

    Also you could make some air units as allys to buy as upgrades, like drogons and things, that would be really cool.

      This is a good idea. Maybe you could make it so you could control one unit and change said unit, and tell the rest to “Attack here”, “Retreat”, and things like that.
      They take a while, but so do the enemies This is because there is more land past the edge of the screen, and they are spawned near the edge of the land. I think. It’s how I would do it. So, not a bug.
      And he’s working on the allies. If you’re going to ask for some, might want to specify what kind.
      They make the noises because of the fact that they are not humans. So we don’t know what they’re saying. (The archers could be Drow/Dark Elves or something.)
      Mentioned this in the last post.
      Next Friday? Yeah right. Sorry, but that would be a much later update.
      He’s already said A White Dragon for an air unit. Bit behind here. Did you read the entire post? He said:

    I think you should make some big grunts like the evil army’s ones as allies to buy as upgrades.
    It would be good to have some bigger grunts as well.

      Big grunts, Not too likely. How many humans are 2+ times bigger than average in size? 10 foot 8 would be really heavy. But it’s his choice. I’m just the voice of reason.

    A medievil battering ram would be great too to have as an ally to buy as an upgrade, to smash the evil army’s castle on the siege on haunted hill levels, and it can kill enemies in the way of it.
    Please put this on this Friday’s update or another Friday’s update.
    This would be really cool!

      I think it would be cool, but I dunno. I can picture it as a siege weapon and having the log on chains or something and swinging back and forth. It could knock the enemies back or something.

    Hey Jason,

    Awesome update, love the mages. I don’t know if this was mentionned in another forum, but there is a slight problem with the unit system. The max level for all the training is Level 1, but to get the trebuchet, you need siege warfare training Level 2. So it is impossible to get the trebuchet if you don’t already have it.

    Yeah not only what Dobby said up there, what ever happened to all the structures and trees (the climbable ones) on the normal levels? I like seeing my archers do a shoot off in safety or the enemy archers shooting in safety.

      I’ll add climbable trees again, but the ones I currently had didn’t fit the current seasonal theme. I’m glad someone liked those trees though.

    So far, a sweet update. I love the Battle Mage/Priest Units. I was wondering if you could make it so you get a bonus when you hit something behind a Foreground object or off screen. Also, a remote detonate for the bomb arrow like you can with the other bombs and the Flak arrows.

    Oh! And a Mine Arrow! Works like the trap arrow, but detonates when a enemy walks over it.

    Also, slight graphical glitch I’ve noticed. Sometimes when a flak arrow explodes, there will be a bunch of black boxes. I’ve also seen it when I shot a bio Bomb at a castle, the shot a triple earth arrow after it, and the rocks made a black box/blob right after they hit the little poison cloud. (I said blob because it was smoothed out when there were a bunch at first, then once there were only a few, it went to boxes.)

      Thanks for letting me know about the black boxes. I’ve seen them too on occasion. I’ll have to do some tests to see how to eliminate them. I think it has something to do with the quality setting and the type of filter effects I have going on.

      Thanks. I have a little experience with flash games, And I, unlike most people, would rather have a game that is balanced, instead of one that you can just completely obliterate the enemy, or one that the enemy is almost impossible. (Trust me, I have friends that like both)

    Another suggestion. You might make it so that your hero can pick up gems. I started a Destructor(My Hunter and Mage are really high level) And the first game mode I ran into was the Artifact mode. Annoying as hell.

    Also, I don’t know if this is accurate, but the Hunter and Mage don’t seem to have the same stats on mana and health. The Mage seems to have more mana(which makes sense) than my Hunter, because I tend to run out of mana on my Hunter when it comes to the Haunted Castle. I’m hoping that the Destructor doesn’t have even less mana.
    I keep asking this, because I’d rather not be a girl, a MALE WIZARD character. ^.^

      Being able to pick up artifacts would make it ridiculously too easy to win those levels. Not only is your character faster than al the rest, it has arrows to slow down the others ans obliterate them.
      It would be over in less than 2 minutes if you could pick up gems.

    I think a two player game mode that is optional would be very good too, were you and a friend battle against each other, like you are the good or evil army and your friend is the evil army or good army depending on which side you or your friend chooses.

    Hey, the Wacky Bomb is not set off when a large Orc or a Dragon(the blue and grey one at least) walk over it, and I bet not when the Bone Golem and the Pumpkin thing (Harvest Golem?) walk over it either.

    i was just thinking… instead of an arcade mode, why not a “fixed” mode, where i’d start with ie: 100 000 gold <- (i don't know what would be a good number), purchase your upgrades strategically and survive as long as you can. Killing units would give you points (or exp) instead of gold, and you'd just try to beat your high score by trying different configurations.
    … (i realize that if you did decide to do this, you'd probably do it when the game is nearly done)

      Not a bad idea. I plan on making different modes in the future. Lots of games these days have different modes or mini-games and I think I have a good framework here that will allow me to implement some cool stuff. Right now the Beta is like a practice mode that never ends. I plan on having a story mode, maybe some challenge modes, and something like the current (practice) mode in the beta. Stay tuned!

      Or, you could play it on expert. You might get a challenge then. He’s got it so that past that, it’s fairly hard. So you have to play to get it going strong.

    I noticed that the fire ball mage ally exploded if there is fire, ice or poison the ground, causing the magician’s skill is often useless. Please do with the bomb did not explode, because it ends up missing a lot. Thanks.

        That would make it impossible for the Mage boss levels though. The only times I’ve been able to beat him is to use a bomb arrow to destroy his magic thingies and then hit him with a multi-arrow.

    The dragon’s attacks (poison and fire balls) can stick to the mages’ shield and do a DOT on the shield, also poison globs and flames on the ground or on units damage the shield if it makes contact

    At levels to get artifacts, there is sometimes the problem that the artifact falls almost on top of the cauldron(it destroy the artifact) , and the enemy wolf catches very fast the artifact, it almost impossible to pass these stages, because the wolf takes a lot to die at higher levels. Often can not lose an artifact. You could make the artifacts more centralized or away from the cauldron. Thanks for checking the fire ball mage. And sorry for my bad English

    Just wanted to mention that the battle mage acts a lot like a grunt. As such he ignores enemys that are already engaged by a grunt. This is confusing to me because I thought he would be more like an archer casting spells at a range, not moving in for the kill. Could you please change this in the mage if not totaly get rid of this in all classes?

      He shouldn’t. I’ve seen grunts gang up on a single enemy. Which is annoying when the one enemy is a ninja, and hey all work on him, leaving you with everything else >.<

    When you shoot the arrow of poison in the venom ball of the dragon to repel the ball happens a bug, the poison smoke(effect of Poison Arrow) attached a poison ball(Dragon) , that’s weird.

      Yeah, the poison is weird. You can attach it to a rock, so if the rock is moving, it looks like a moving poison cloud. Then the mage shield glitch. I’ve seen some really weird stuff.

    Hey Jason, I went back through the updates (an hour long enterprise) And saw something that said there was a graphical glitch that caused a cone to form on a grunts head when frozen. I’ve noticed the same issue with the flaming skeletons swrod. it ends up longer than the skeleton.

    Other things.

    ->It is not possible to get Shielded Grunts, they require lvl2 Militia training, which only has one level.
    ->Advanced Soldier Training includes wolves. Beast Training does not. (at least, in the decriptions.)

    I’ll let you know if I find anything else.

    OH! Before I forget, I’m blogging about you right now. ^.^ Talking about this game. Ask if you want the site, it’s nothing special, but hey, I figure I might as well talk about my favorite stuff, and this is awesome!

I’ve been trying to get some of my friends to play it, but with as few phones that would work with it, and school blocking all the good sites(including yours), It’s not the easiest. But hey, I’m persistent, and some have said they would come check it out, so I’m hopeful for converts. ^.^

            It doesn’t work. Bing and Yahoo are completely blocked, and they’ve figured out pretty much all the proxies, unless I make my own, or embed it on one of my sites. So yeah, I’ve tried and Failed. >.<

  45. Please can you make it so that my allied trebuchet’s and catapult’s fire balls don’t burn my allies.

    It’s annoying when they fire near my allys, it burns them and kills them sometimes.

  46. of all your past games this one is the best and apparent culmination of all your games. ive actually played on this site for years and now seeing where it is when before the most advanced game you had was an infant bowmaster prelude, its amazing. Keep it up man.i should learn how to do this…

    First time posting, although Bomaster’s probably still my all-time fav online game. Love the new white dragon – man, he’s fast! Not a single complaint, but 3 suggestions:
    1) I saw mention of an “info” arrow a while back to get intel on an enemy unit (elemental weakness, hp, mana, etc.). That would rock.
    2) Something that’ll do some special damage to green dragons. We’ve got a whole array of weapons that dish out fire & ice damage, but nothing but the puny cure arrow and flak specialized for these guys. Cure arrow’s good in rapid fire, but mana cool down takes forever. Can its damage to poison enemies be upped, or maybe do something unique/clever to these guys?
    3) A black dragon. Doesn’t like white dragon one bit.
